You don’t need ITRA points for the Gondo Marathon, but you can now earn these coveted points. You’ll receive two points for Saturday’s marathon and another two points on Sunday (double marathon).
Over time, the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) has developed a qualification system that rates the difficulty of trail running races on a scale of 0 to 6. The rating takes into account distance, elevation gain and technical difficulty. Trail races such as the Gondo Marathon can earn so-called ITRA points, which serve as entry requirements for other events, such as the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. Although no points are required for the Gondo Marathon itself, it is now possible to collect these coveted points here. Runners will receive two points for Saturday’s marathon and a further two points on Sunday (double marathon) – meaning it is possible to collect four points in a single weekend. This will make the Gondo Marathon – Switzerland’s only two-day marathon – even more attractive.
